Why Studying Within A Multilingual Environment Is Great For The Body

As the series continues, we now introduce the fourth post: “Why studying within a multilingual environment is great for the body”. This post relates to how being able to speak multiple languages has many benefits in our everyday lives, from both a social and professional perspective. With the world connected by so many means, speaking more than one language is a great advantage if you ever want to travel as much as it is for staying within your country, interacting with new people traveling themselves. The following points are what we found correlating with studying in a multilingual environment:

  • “Learning a new language means your brain has to cope with complexity as it makes sense of and absorbs new patterns. As our brains work out the meaning, endeavoring to communicate, we develop key learning skills such as cognitive thinking and problem-solving. Highly developed critical thinking skills are a significant benefit both personally and professionally.”

  • “According to a study from the Pennsylvania State University, people who are multilingual and proficient at slipping from one language system to another are practiced at this very demanding work for the brain. People who have developed the ability to think in different languages and move from one to the other become much better multi-taskers, reducing stress levels.”

  • “According to a study from the University of Chicago, decision-making ability becomes an easier process for multilingual people. Aside from the rules and vocabulary that go with learning a foreign language, there are nuances and regional expressions that a student of language frequently judges for appropriateness and hidden meanings. Multilinguals are more confident in their decision-making choices as a result of practice.”

As shown above, being multilingual has many benefits throughout many aspects of our lives. At ITM Thai Hand International Training Massage School Berlin, we have many variety of people that come together and speak in their native tongue with one another. Our school provides the perfect environment if you are a person looking to study a new language, or interact with other cultures. The teachers here also speak a minimum of three languages, so students can be more comfortable within the school. Many of our students speak more than just English and can provide you with the kick start you need to a new language.

Being multilingual is more than just being able to show people that you are talented, but it is extremely useful in our day and age where travel has never been easier (and cheaper). This means that you can interact with the people from the respected country you visit.
